Baptism is the outward statement of a spiritual decision to follow Jesus. In baptism, we are representing our belief that we are made new and have new life through the death and resurrection of Christ.
The Bible doesn’t say that baptism is a requirement for salvation. However, the New Testament describes baptism as an act of obedience for believers (Matthew 28:19) as we give a visual testimony to others of our faith in Jesus (Acts 2:41). At LifePoint, we baptize by immersion because it is the New Testament image of someone who has chosen to forsake their life of sin and take-up a life committed to Christ (Romans 6:4).
